LONDON – Home advantage can inspire the British Olympic sailing team to new Olympic highs in London in 2012, according to Dame Ellen MacArthur on Friday. Britain's sailing team excelled at the Beijing Games in August, taking home a haul of six medals, including four golds, to better the two golds they won in Athens in 2004. "The team are all very young and very motivated," said MacArthur, who shot to fame after breaking the round-the-world solo record in 2005. "They have just proved that they are the best team in the world at the Olympics so I see no reason why they shouldn't continue. "The sailing team has been incredibly successful for many years so I'd love to think they can continue that success in 2012. You look at our results. They are extraordinary." She added: "The support for the sailing team and the rest of the teams will be stronger than ever in 2012 with the Games being in this country. I'd love to think we'd get more medals." MacArthur singled out Ben Ainslie, who became Britain's most successful sailor after winning a fourth successive gold medal in the Finn class in Beijing, as a talent to watch in London. "Ben is an amazing sailor. He has already gone a long way. He's a real fierce character, knows what it's all about and knows how to get things done so he'll do well."
