ANZ bank to axe more than 500 jobs

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group is to cut more than 500 jobs in a move that adds weight to industry estimates that as many as 10,000 positions could be lost from Australia s financial services industry in the next 18 months.ANZ admitted to the job cuts on Friday after it poured cold water on a newspaper report that said it planned to cut 10 per cent or 3,500 workers.
