Mahamuda Khatun, 28, stabbed Mohammed Dilwer Miah to death on his 28th birthday, 33 days into their arranged marriage.
She hid the knife inside her burka and plunged it into her husband's chest when he opened the door of their home in Stepney, east London.
Khatun was bitter about being pressured into the wedding by her strict Muslim father.
She had run from a first arranged marriage six years earlier after just eight months and told jurors she was stigmatised after the separation.
An Old Bailey jury found her guilty of murder by a majority verdict of ten to one.
The Common Serjeant of London, judge Brian Barker, told Khatun she must serve at least 17 years for the "wicked" murder before being considered for early release.
Khatun told police she had found Mr Miah's body at their home in Hadleigh House, Stepney, on the night of August 9 last year, after coming home late.
But her alibi was destroyed when mobile phone evidence proved she had been near her home at the time of the murder.
She then changed her story and claimed she had been the victim of domestic abuse.
Judge Barker rejected the claim that she had been pressured into marrying Mr Miah, saying: "You went into this with your eyes open."
