ANKARA, Turkey – Officials say an explosion has shut down a pipeline in southeastern Turkey that carries oil from Iraq to the Mediterranean.
    No casualties were immediately reported.
Kurdish rebels have bombed the pipeline before, and regional governor Mehmet Kiliclar says the explosion may have been deliberate.
The explosion occurred Friday near the town of Midyat, 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the Iraqi border. The governor says a resulting fire was quickly brought under control.
The pipeline connects oil fields around the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk with the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
Officials at Turkey's state pipeline company aren't commenting, and it is not known when the pipeline will reopen.
